Superintendent of Schools
Secretary Special Programs/Superintendent’s Office
Paul Manzo's Letter to the Community
Dear East Islip Families and School Community,
As you know, Mr. Dolan has retired effective February 3, 2023, and I have been appointed as your interim Superintendent of Schools for the remainder of the academic year. I am grateful and humbled for being afforded this opportunity by our Board of Education.
In my interim role, I will continue to move forward the great work our district has accomplished and hope to continue making great strides. I am proud to say that the East Islip School District staff and students are second to none. This is evident by the outstanding academic excellence and opportunities offered to our students beyond the classroom. My last six years have been filled with great excitement as I have had the opportunity to witness "El Pride" through and through.
I am incredibly blessed and fortunate to work with a community that values education and believes in creating opportunities for all students. The commitment to our student success falls in line with our district's mission statement:
"Our Mission is for East Islip to be a District of Excellence and to educate students with the skills and knowledge to become exceptional learners and leaders. We will provide a safe and positive learning environment in partnership with our greater community "
I look forward to working with all stakeholders in the coming months and encourage you to contact my office should you have any questions or concerns.
Superintendent of Schools
Paul Manzo has been appointed as the East Islip School District’s interim superintendent of schools, effective Feb. 3., replacing the retired John Dolan. Manzo has served as East Islip’s assistant superintendent for instruction and personnel since 2016. He had previously spent 14 years with the Sachem Central School District, where he served as an assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, assistant superintendent for administration and building administrator. “It is my pleasure to begin to serve East Islip as superintendent of schools,” Manzo said. “I am humbled and grateful to the Board of Education for this opportunity. It is an honor to be able to continue to support our administrators and staff as we provide our students with a quality education. John Dolan, our former superintendent, started some great work both in and out of our buildings. I look forward to the future and continuing this work and our journey on the pathway to excellence.”
